120 Standardizing Consent Forms for Outpatient Urology Procedures

Abstract Introduction British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) guidelines have provided comprehensive and standardized for urological procedures, including indications, benefits, risks involved, alternatives. At our institution, currently, consent forms are handwritten resulting in generalized or incomplete information given to patients. Aim To improve patient understanding the procedures they undergoing by providing form stickers as per BAUS guidelines. Method Single institution data were collected retrospectively flexible cystoscopy, stent removal, transrectal ultrasonography (TRUS), transurethral laser ablation (TULA). Consent compared A sticker each procedure was developed accordance with reviewed via trust's clinical governance process. Clinicians educated their use future consenting. Results consecutive patients over a two-month period analyzed. The initial audit showed that proportion who had all included 0% TRUS, 100% removal. Common rare, but serious not mentioned cases. TULA.
